I am a register yoga teacher (Yoga Alliance). I studied with Cindy Dollar (from Asheville, NC – the Iyengar method.) I offer classes in vinyasa flow, restorative, basic, and yin as well as private sessions.
I believe yoga is a journey and I’m constantly seeking more knowledge and insight so I attend as many varied workshops as possible to gain continuing education credit hours.
I also enjoy working as a Dental Hygienist and have a B.S. in Health Education. I am CPR certified. Health and nutrition are an important aspect of my personal yogic path.
As many of you know, there are eight limbs of yoga emanating from a central core:
Yamas and Niyamas- ten ethical concepts that allow us to be at peace.
Asanas – postures or poses to strengthen and stretch body, help with balance.
Pranayama – breathing or life force practice.
Pratyahara – withdrawal of the senses
Dharana – concentration
Dhyana – meditation
Samadhi – highest meditative state, experiencing oneness with Creator.
We will go into these more in future blogs. I aspire to live yoga through practice of the yamas and niyamas. It is indeed a journey worth taking. I hope you will join me.
